Its been a while since I have posted anything. What can I say, school makes me busy. However today I was listening to my ipod and wanted to share the song that made me think.
The song is by Lacrae. Lacrae is a Christian rapper. His songs are better than you think. Today I was listening to his music and a song came on that caught my attention. The song is "Background". The song in a few words is basically saying I will sing the background and I want God to take the lead. This in itself was a good idea to live by, but the song went on to a line that was much better. "Cause if I do this by myself, I'm scared that I'll succeed And no longer trust in you, 'cause I only trust in me".
I thought about this line for a while while the song continued. This is basically the downfall of most who believe in God. When we do stuff by ourselves and we do them right we get the idea in our mind that we are all we need. When in reality we just got lucky and without God as our lead we will just fall flat on our faces. So in our life all we need to be successful is to be a background singer and let God take the lead and bring us to our success.
Below is a link to the song.

Another day of class
I am getting ready for class and I look at the weather. Of course it is going to be raining today. I am so ready for summer when each day is warm and in the afternoon it rains. I never liked the march and april times when it rains and rains and rains. The worst part of all of the rain is that it is still cold sometimes.
Still not enthused about the odd sleep I have been getting due to the time change. I believe the "fall back" half is a better deal. This whole loosing an hour of sleep has got to go, we need to find someone who can fix this. Not to mention I am thrown off by the 1.8 millionths of a second we lost after the earthquake. It is throwing my sleep horribly off. However now we save 13 feet of gas when getting things shipped to and from japan.

rainy day
Its spring break and it is cold and rainy outside. It is sad yet gives me an excuse to lay around and be lazy all day. After working five times so far and another two more to come this week, this spring break has done more than tire me out. So much for spring break being a time for rest.
oh well. I need the money I will be getting from working so much. I can rest this weekend once I get back to school. At least I hope I can rest, as long as my roommates don't show up till sunday. But for now I will be trying to rest while it continues to rain all day. Not being forced to do anything but relax and maybe watch some tv.
By the way, what happened to spring break. I have had homework due at least three times this week. I cant get away from school no matter how much I try, it only follows me home. Between homework and real work I don't know how I have found time to sleep. I get more sleep at school.
To leave with a little bit of a brighter note I will show you a cool link. Copy this link into your bookmarks and when you start to get bored click on it. What it does is send a duck across the screen and your curser becomes a gun thing. Like an old style video game.

Luck or not?
It has been a while since I have been here, but today sounds like a good day to write. It is raining outside and I love a good storm. But the real reason I am here is to talk about my project. Today in engineering we turned in part of our innovation project. Basically the idea of the project is to build a car to transport the "cargo".
Before class we needed to build the car, test it, and do some written work. My team mates were not helpful on this subject at all. But today we tested the car. This consists of a starting line, then 20 feet away a large circle with a small circle inside it. The "cargo" that my team transported was 5 ping pong balls.
We get to test the car twice with time between for any changes we need to make. We tested the first time and the car only went 8 feet and a few inches. This made me and my team stress. So during the time allotted I took the car and without help again I basically rebuilt the car and modified it tremendously.
After a couple of practice tests we were not confident with the car but class was almost over. So I set it and let it go, to our amazement it had an almost perfect run. Landing 6 inches from the exact middle, the small circle has a radius of 9 inches. We went from the worst in the class to the best. In the end the testing of the car got a grade of 110%. My group thought it was just luck, but I think it was more.

Light Up the Sky
I was listening to one of my favorite bands, The Afters and I always skip to my favorite song by them before I listen. My favorite song is "Light Up the Sky". I had planned to write about this song but decided to be more spontaneous today. So I picked up my Bible and opened it up to a random verse. This is what I come to; Mathew 6:9-13.
9 "This, then, is how you should pray:
"'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
From here I started thinking. This is great. When I pray I don't have to list off, like I usually do. I can say this simple prayer and God will already know exactly what I am praying for and who I am praying for. Then I started thinking, did this verse come up because God is tired of trying to keep up with everything I say? Tired of listening through my list? Probably not, but this makes life easier on the both of us.
Even though I wasn't going to talk much about the song I listed above, here it is.

The Union
Today between some of my classes I have a break for lunch. However lunch never takes the full hour and fifteen that is available. I usually find somewhere quiet sit and do some homework. Today I sat down and turned on my laptop and got to work. Not ten minutes in I look up to see two people I have never before seen in my life. I look up and they start talking so I turn off my ipod to see what they want.
Next thing I know I am being bombarded with information about some foreign religion. The two people would not let me speak. They just kept talking. Telling me about their purpose, their books, their groups, where they meet, when they meet and who knows what else they were saying. I could barely understand what they were saying. When I told them I was not interested they would not take no as an answer. I ended up showing them my computer screen and telling them I am doing school work and then they decided to leave.
I still have no idea what religion they were telling me about. The only words I understood were bible, Jesus, motherhood, something about the motherhood of god church I think. I thought this odd occurrence was something to share. Just remember to tell them you are doing homework, that seems to get them to let you be.
Here is a picture I found when googleing the words they were spouting out.

Lets give this a shot
Recently I have noticed a rise in popularity of things like this. I like the idea of being able to recount your own experiences and share them with other. Whether they are bad and something to learn from or great and something well worth reliving.
Although I don't know much of what to put here I thought it would be perfect to use this first experience to tell a little about myself. I am a student at the great University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have somewhat recently found a great spiritual home at Hope Church. I spend my days studying for class, studying the word of the Lord and spending time with my amazing girlfriend Ashley.
Whenever I get the chance I listen to music. It seems to calm and rejuvenate even in the lowest of lows. My favorite genre is alternative rock with a recently found second place of christian rock. Although I used to despise it as a kid I have recently started reading after getting a Kindle for Christmas.
My time today is up. I feel that this is going to be great and can not wait to see how this turns out. Until next time may you have a great journey through life.
